If you need multiple sites each with their own domain them WPMultiSite is a better solution than WordPress MU. WPMultiSite is focused on Multiple Sites while WordPress MU is intended for Multiple users.
Most host don’t allow subdomain wild cards which makes WordPress MU much harder to use. Also many host don’t allow WordPress MU at all. If you don’t really need WordPress MU then WP MultiSite might be just right for you.
